October 2016 - Why Sustainability Is Important to Us

Did you know that in the U.S. alone, the waste management industry brings in revenues of $75 billion per year (gridwaste.com). That number wouldn’t be so high if it weren’t for the huge volume of waste that companies across the country are generating every single day. It would be impossible to eliminate the create of waste entirely and therefore there will always be a need for disposal, but can’t we reduce our impact on the environment? Can’t we try our best to reuse and recycle materials so that less of what we’re consuming ends up in a landfill? At Paper Tubes & Sales, we believe we can.

Keep in mind, if we aren’t reusing old materials, we’re burning even more energy to create new ones, so the impact of recycling might be much greater than we imagine. At PTS, we’ve made the very conscious decision to be a green company that put sustainability into practice every day. All of our paper is made from 100% recycled paperboard, and even our metal closures are made with partially recycled material. During our manufacturing process, scrap is collected and sent back to a paper mill to be turned into useable paperboard. We’ve decided that instead of being part of the problem, we are going to be a part of the solution. By using less energy, working with recycled materials, and recycling scrap from our facility, we are actively promoting a green approach to manufacturing.

Thankfully, it seems that many other businesses across the country are catching on the importance of sustainable practices. Organizations that once perceived recycling programs as too costly or complex are beginning to understand that adverse effect that their waste can have on their community and the world. According to a survey conducted by Ernst & Young, 65% of all survey respondents said that their company’s CFO was actively involved in a sustainability project (ey.com).

Here at PTS, we’re happy to do our part and contribute to a more sustainable approach to manufacturing. We’re committed to implementing and maintaining green initiatives that reduce our waste and lower our energy consumption.

If you’re looking for “GREEN,” look no further than PTS! After all, green is the color of PTS.
